A Derbyshire organisation designed to help new businesses get
off to a flying start has strengthened its board with the appointment
of four new non-executive directors.
Derbyshire Enterprise Agency (DEA) delivers the Business Link
Start-up Service across the county and the new appointments will bring a
wealth of experience to the organisation as it strives to further
improve the support it offers.
Explained DEA Chairman, John Foxcroft: “The current economic climate
has resulted in a lot of people being made redundant and many of them
have become self employed.
“There are also a lot of entrepreneurs around the county who are
developing innovative business ideas and as an organisation we are
always working to give them the best possible start through training
workshops, mentoring and even providing managed workspace accommodation.
“These latest appointments will bring additional expertise to the
board as we continue to explore the best ways to encourage new
businesses in Derbyshire.”
Joining the board is George Nicholson of Derbyshire-based Opus
Telecom, a leading supplier of telecommunications equipment to small and
medium-sized businesses. George has significant experience of managing
and growing businesses of various sizes – from start-ups to Fortune 500
enterprises.
Also appointed is Paul Hollyer, Head of Commercial Law at Elliot
Mather LLP, who has particular knowledge of business strategy
development and legal services and Tom McGregor, Managing Director of
property installation and management firm OMA Contracts Limited, who has
expertise in operational management and financial management and
planning.
The fourth new board member is Ruth Appleton, Director of Operations
at Barker Ross, a national recruitment agency that employs 40 people
across Derbyshire and Nottingham. Ruth has extensive experience of
business development, forecasting and sales and marketing.
Added John Foxcroft: “The new board members have been drawn from a
cross section of businesses in Derbyshire and I’m sure their experience
and expertise will make a huge contribution to the success of the DEA
and the businesses we support.”
